Just a thanks!

I would just like to thank everyone for following me over that past couple months on my blog. As the semester is winding down I’ve realized how much I have learned about myself, teamwork, and especially networking and social media. Thanks again for following, see you on the inter web soon!

Every once in a while we all need a pick me up. This weekend I went to see Brian Reagan, the comedian. I went with a bunch of my family members and friends.

It’s nice to take a step back from reality and enjoy good company and some good laughs. Too meany people in America get so stressed out. Stress effects work relationships and relationships at home.

So take a few minutes, find something that makes you smile and laugh a little when you feel stressed.

Spring break!

People do all different things for spring break. My sister went back packing, my roommates went to visit family, I went to Panama City in Florida! I had a fantastic time.

We stayed in a condo that we rented for a week through an organization called Student City.
They plan trips for large groups of college or high school students. I was amazed at the organization and publicizing that is involved for this company. So many people are involved in the planning and support I was very impressed.

Many people just pay the money and go but when you take a step back and look at the whole experience the people organizing everything really deserve a big thanks!

Becoming an Au Pair

An au pair is a domestic assistant from a foreign country working for, and living as part of, a host family. Typically, au pairs take on a share of the family’s responsibility for childcare as well as some housework, and receive a small monetary allowance for personal use. I’ve recently had the opportunity to agree to be an Au pair in France for next year. I begin in September and stay for a year, if not more.

I am extremely excited and nervous! I’ve never been out of the country and this opportunity is very exhilarating. I’m going to have a busy summer learning France, and doing all the necessary things you need to do in order to become an Au pair.

While thinking about leaving my friends and family behind in America, I plan to find who I am as a person and develop a new sense of culture and self awareness. There is so much more to the world then the college you attend, the friends you have and the daily routines that you develop. I’m excited to start something new and to experience a completely new adventure.

A microbrewery or craft brewery is a brewery that produces a limited amount of beer. Exact definitions vary, but the terms are typically applied to breweries that are much smaller than large-scale corporate breweries and are independently owned. Such breweries are generally characterized by their emphasis on flavor and brewing technique.

All along the eastern shore, microbreweries are beginning to really pop up and are becoming very prevalent along the coast. I have had the opportunity for the past year to work for the company, Evolution Craft Brewing Co. The culture of the microbreweries is really fascinating. All the little guys against the big dogs. The smaller brewing companies work together and support each other so that they can survive in this dog eat dog world.

Not only are the surrounding breweries a great community, but also the people that visit. They people that I serve are so interested in how the brewery started, how the beer is made, and even are interested about me as a person, not just another server at a corporate run restaurant. It’s really cool to watch as the small breweries work together to survive and I am lucky to be a part of it.
